Top 4 Use Cases
I-V curve tracers for testing photovoltaic systems
Ensuring Optimal Performance of PV Installations
Do my PV modules really deliver the promised performance? With our I-V curve tracers for testing photovoltaic systems, you can precisely verify the peak performance of your solar modules according to IEC standards. This enables operators, EPCs, and PV service teams not only to measure the actual module performance, but also to detect hidden faults and power losses at an early stage. The result: higher yields, improved safety, and reliable operation of large PV systems.
Plan, execute, and analyze measurement campaigns
The planning and preparation of measurement campaigns is carried out conveniently on a PC using our in-house developed PV software. Measurements can be prepared in detail there and then transferred directly to the device.
Particularly efficient: with the integrated Report Generator you can automatically generate standards-compliant test reports, including a detailed analysis of all measurement data such as peak power, I-V curve, and temperature dependence. This way, operators and service companies not only save time but also receive comprehensive documentation for acceptance, quality assurance, and fault diagnosis of photovoltaic systems.
Even inexperienced users can perform the measurements with ease – without training or extensive instruction. For maximum flexibility, our measuring devices can also be operated independently via the bright touch display, even without a PC.
Experts rely on the PVe Performance Tester
Consultants and EPCs appreciate the simple and intuitive operation of our I-V curve tracers for testing photovoltaic systems. Particularly attractive is the option to rent our I-V curve tracers first – ideal for short-term projects or trial deployments. If you later decide to purchase, the rental fees already paid will be fully credited. This way, consultants benefit from maximum flexibility while minimizing investment risks.
PVe measurement technology in research
Our PV measuring devices are the first choice for research institutions, institutes, and universities that carry out precise and standards-compliant measurements in the field of photovoltaics.
Depending on the application, two versions are available:
Robust I-V curve tracers for testing photovoltaic systems in a PELI case – designed for demanding outdoor applications and field measurements.
Elegant 19-inch devices in aluminum mounting frame – ideal for stationary indoor operation in laboratories.
All variants are designed for automatic continuous measurements and long-term studies, making them ideal for research projects, comparative measurements, and long-term data series.
In addition, research and educational institutions benefit from our attractive R&D special conditions when purchasing a PVe I-V curve tracer for teaching or research.

Key Terms
What is the peak power of photovoltaic modules?
The peak power (PPK) is the output of a module under standard test conditions (STC). The rated power of a module is measured at a cell temperature of 25 °C, an irradiance of 1000 W/m², and a light spectrum of AM 1.5. Since STC can only be reproduced in specialized laboratories, such measurements are complex and costly. With the PVe Peak Meter, measurements are carried out easily and cost-effectively under real operating conditions and then converted to STC values. In addition to peak power, our devices also calculate series resistance, parallel resistance, and the actual output. By comparing these results with manufacturer specifications and analyzing the I-V curves, performance deviations can be detected, potential faults identified, and troubleshooting simplified.
What is the series resistance?
The series resistance Rs of a PV module is the resistance that the current must overcome within the module. It is caused by the materials and connections in the cells and contacts. A higher series resistance reduces the module’s efficiency and may indicate aging or defects. Our PVPM measuring devices can determine both Rs and Rp (parallel resistance) – often by measuring just a single I-V curve of a module. Excessive Rs values point to issues such as broken cabling, corrosion, connection faults, or undersized components.
