What is the peak power of photovoltaic modules?
The peak power (PPKThe peak power of a module is measured under Standard Test Conditions (STC). The nominal power of a module is determined at a cell temperature of 25°C, an irradiance of 1000 W/m², and a light spectrum corresponding to AM = 1.5. STC conditions can only be created in specialized test laboratories, making these measurements complex and costly.) PVe Peak Meters provide an extremely cost-effective solution by measuring under real-world conditions and converting the results to STC values. In addition to peak power, our devices also calculate series resistance, parallel resistance, and actual performance. Comparing these values with manufacturer specifications (nominal values) and analyzing the characteristic curves help identify performance deviations, pinpoint potential sources of error, and simplify troubleshooting.
What is the series internal resistance?
The series resistance of a PV module is the resistance that the current must overcome within the module. It is caused by the materials and connections in the cells and contacts. A higher series resistance reduces the module's efficiency and may indicate aging or defects. Our PVPM curve tracing devices can determine both series resistance (Rs) and parallel resistance (Rp). For this, a single I-V curve measurement of a module is sufficient. Excessively high Rs values can indicate broken wiring, corrosion, connection faults, or undersized components.
