Common abilities

These are characteristics of all PVPM devices

  • own patented calculation methods allow a quick evaluation of peak power and internal series resistance (from one single IV-curve measurement)
  • integrated PC and TFT touch display makes them operational without additional computers (no extra costs), but as well with them (USB connection)
  • operation by internal rechargeable battery (lasting 8 hours)  AND grid powered as well, for continuous measurements (long term studies)
  • the devices work with a capacitive load. Advances: the IV-curve measurement is fast (for exaple 50ms for one module) as well as smooth: the method avoides voltage or current jumps and makes it suitable even for thin film or high capacity modules 
  • we use irradiance references which are constructed similar to a module (solar glass, EVA, cell). That is why their optical and spectral behaviour is very near to the module under test, the base for best results
  • if required for the specific measurement problems (the irradiance sensor must have the same behaviour as the module under test): we offer diverse calibrated irradiance reference sensors, with different cell technologies and different accuracy, coming from different manufacturers
  • the wired connection of the sensors (true real time data) prevents accuracy problems due to time shift or not sufficient data density (irradiance varies significantly within milliseconds in reality). Cable extensions are provided.
  • long test leads (standard 10m) in four-wire connection give maximum flexibility while maintaining high accuracy: the leads may be replaced by shorter or longer ones without the requirement of changes at the instrument

Irradiance Reference Sensors, calib.

If required several other commercially available irradiance reference sensors may be attached to the PVPM. These sensors are available in several cell technologies (for example mono-, polycrystalline, amorphous).
